Spearmint Energy (“Spearmint”) is a next-generation renewable energy company enabling the clean energy revolution through developing and installing battery energy storage systems (BESS). Spearmint currently operates one of the world's largest batteries, a 150MW/300 MWh BESS project located in West Texas, and is also developing over 20 projects, totaling over 10 GWh of capacity, across 11+ states in 5 regions of the United States. Headquartered in Miami, Florida and with offices in Eden Prairie neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Spearmint is comprised of over 60 seasoned industry professionals across development and corporate functions with the goal of becoming the preeminent green merchant energy company.
Spearmint develops, owns, operates, and optimizes large-scale battery energy storage systems with the aim of reducing grid volatility, increasing system resiliency, and helping minimize carbon emissions in a responsible and efficient way.
What You Will Do
Spearmint Energy is seeking rising seniors for our Summer 2025 Intern program to support various sectors of our business. Spearmint interns have several functional areas available from including Sustainability & Corporate Communications, Regulatory, Quantitative Optimization, Fundamental Research, Finance, and different areas within Project Development. Interns may assist in monitoring regulatory changes, analyzing energy market conditions, trading in the power market, evaluating project sustainability, ethical impact, and sourcing potential assets; all while learning and overseeing how we develop utility-scale battery energy storage facilities across the county.
Intern roles will include creating presentations, analyzing spreadsheets, and assisting with specific team needs. Interested candidates must have an interest in sustainability, renewable energy or finance, and with knowledge of the climate change industry.
