Summary:

The role is to build up and improve upon Spearmint’s data pipeline architecture with the goal of making data easily accessible to multiple parties within the organization, from data scientists to traders to C-level executives. This professional will report directly to the Head of Research & Analytics. Our current architecture utilizes Python, AWS S3, AWS Lambda, Snowflake, and Snowpipe. Extensive experience designing and building data ingestion (ETL/ELT) systems with these services is a must. Additionally, you will be asked to help team members scale and automate scripts for BESS trading and revenue forecasting.


Specific Duties:

Automate the download of data (e.g. JSON, CSV) from numerous proprietary API sources via Python scripts (also open to bash, Javascript, etc.).

Write new scripts (Python, bash, etc.) and/or modify existing Javascript scripts for scalability. For example, iterate through lists of data sources and write CREATE TABLE statements and/or Materialized Views for each in a data warehouse (Snowflake / AWS Redshift).

Create views or other constructs to help users access data efficiently.

Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies. For example, create roles limiting read access to sensitive information.

Create processes for disseminating data to various users within the company.

Work with team members to scale and automate existing Python scripts for BESS trade optimization and revenue forecasts.

Aid in integrating data-heavy software, including an energy trading and risk management (ETRM) system and a production-cost model.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must-Haves:

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a quantitative discipline.

At least three years of experience as a data engineer, backend engineer, or similar role.

Hands-on experience with AWS ETL/ELT systems and Redshift/Snowflake a must.

Very strong programming skills, including extensive experience with Python and SQL.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Nice-to-Haves:

Experience with Tableau or other BI Software a plus.

AI/ML experience a plus.

Embrace a disciplined entrepreneurial culture.

Be a team player at all times, with shared responsibilities and expectations.

Have a valid US state issued ID and passport.
