Role Summary: The Director of Regulatory & Legislative Affairs will oversee and lead Spearmint’s public policy efforts via legislative and regulatory advocacy at the state and regional level to advance Spearmint’s commercial interests, while advocating and coordinating our role on various ISO committees. This role will report to the Company’s General Counsel.


Track and relay changes in US regulation policy to various parts of the Company including dev strategy, asset management, executives, and Board. In addition, intervene at Federal, State and ISO level to protect Spearmint’s interests.

Manage 3rd party state and ISO consultants, researchers, and coordinate with lobbying firms.

Build and maintain high-level relationships with energy market stakeholders, policy leaders and government agencies to develop conceptual design and policy for future market initiatives and products.

Integrate input from development, operations, and commercial teams, as well as executive leadership, to identify policy-driven risks and opportunities, and to articulate the company's positions on key issues.

Lead internal teams in prioritizing and analyzing the impact of critical legislative and regulatory issues based on the company’s business plan.

Coordinate internal response to regulatory audits and investigations. Develop solutions and mitigating strategies if regulatory issues arise.

Create and execute advocacy strategies to advance public policy goals, potentially across multiple corporate regions.

Develop, implement, and oversee plans to execute the company's legislative and regulatory agenda, pursuing proactive legislative and regulatory initiatives and defending against adverse legislative or regulatory actions.

Develop strategies to ensure the company’s resource activities comply with government regulations.

Assists with the development of standards for the company’s operating and production procedures.

Maintain current knowledge of regulations applicable to the company and monitor regulatory affairs and the effect changes will have on company operations.


7+ years' experience in regulatory affairs, government affairs, and public policy in the energy industry.

Experience representing and serving as an external spokesperson for a corporation or other organization.

Strong familiarity with key renewable energy policies and market issues affecting renewable energy project development in the short and long term.

Ability to inform and educate managers and department heads on regulations and polices that require compliance.

Must have work authorization to work in the United States

Bachelor's degree from accredited college/university (political science, economics, public administration, social science, humanities, or other relevant field); Graduate degree or professional development preferred.

Travel as needed.
