What You Will Do

Spearmint Energy (Company) is seeking several entry level analysts and associates across various sectors to work in its Miami, FL office. Candidates must have a keen interest in energy and technology and be ready to support the Company as it continues to scale its portfolio of assets by developing, owning, operating and optimizing battery energy storage systems (BESS) across the United States.

 

Core Responsibilities:


Sustainability & Communications Associate: 

  • Preferred engineering background.

  • Strong understanding of emissions calculations.

  • Good grasp of quantitative topics.

  • Comfortable dealing with large data sets and complex topics in addition to being able to write well.

 

Regulatory/Policy Associate: 

  • Monitor and track issues in relevant state legislatures, state utility commissions and RTO/ISOs.

  • Monitor/attend stakeholder meetings in RTO/ISO as needed.

  • Draft and update reports for ongoing informational support internally.

  • Attend and monitor association meetings, such as APA, CGA, ACP, etc. as needed.

 

  Business Development Associate:

  • Conduct comprehensive feasibility and economic analyses to evaluate both short-term and long-term business opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage projects across multiple departments, ensuring seamless collaboration and integration of diverse teams for execution efficiency.
  • Develop and prepare comprehensive presentation materials for internal stakeholders and external partners. This includes creating visually appealing and informative slides, reports, and other supporting documents to effectively communicate key messages and project updates.
  • Present project updates to senior leadership, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and securing their support.

Finance Analyst:

  • Hands on approach in all aspects of a transaction, including due diligence, assessment of transaction viability, negotiation, structuring and execution in coordination with internal and external partners (developers, lawyers, technical advisors, debt providers, EPC contractors, etc.)

  • Support senior members of the Project Finance team in the financing and structuring of all deals, including sourcing of debt, tax equity and equity.

  • Build / modify financial models and conduct economic analysis for portfolios of under construction projects, greenfield development projects and project M&A opportunities.

  • Prepare presentations for internal and external purposes, including investors, lenders and the company’s Investment Committee.


Optimization Analyst:

  • Help develop Spearmint’s optimization strategy and execution, while working with associated teams (Development and Research) to fulfill objectives for maximizing asset revenue
  • Work with senior leadership to help define long-term strategy
  • Eventually lead the group’s understanding of market opportunities outside of its current focus (ERCOT), across various U.S. regions (ISOs), and to help formulate expectations for revenue models in those various regions


Research Data Analyst:

  • Evaluate storage project sites using mapping and database software tools
  • Summarize findings and coordinate with stakeholders on investment and trading strategy
  • Utilize software to enter trades; maintain trade and bid results database
  • Coordinate with the ISO market and related entities to ensure proper settlements

 

Information Systems Associate

  • Infrastructure Support & Operations
  • Provide IS related support for staff across the organization.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Microsoft 365, Dynamics, and other Microsoft cloud services.
  • Monitor system health and performance, escalating issues as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining and improving IS infrastructure, including cloud-based environments.
  • Document support procedures, system configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Data & Systems Support
  • Assist in managing and maintaining data pipelines and storage within Microsoft Fabric and corresponding Data Lakes.
  • Support integration and automation efforts using Power Platform and other M365 tools.
  • Help ensure data integrity, security, and compliance across all systems.

 

Who You Are 

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Business/Management, Finance, Engineering, Math Sciences, Sustainability, Policy, Natural Resources, or other relevant field, and at least 1 year of work or internship experience in a full-time professional office environment

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at once, collaboration skills, eagerness to learn and good time management

  • Optimization - You have computational and analytical experience, as well as commercial understanding of market rules and obligations. B.A. or B.Sc. Experience in commercial applications, especially renewable energy, is preferred
  • Advanced skills in MS Office, Excel and Outlook,
