Summary:
The role of the Director, Mergers and Acquisitions will be to partner with our SVP, Strategy and Project Development to achieve the portfolio goals by acquiring projects, leading the deal team and project diligence activities.
Responsibilities:
- Complete initial screening of the firm’s project acquisition opportunities by reviewing all materials in the seller’s provided data room and compiling initial list of diligence questions
- Participate in the detailed screening of acquisitions, reviewing all materials and questions provided by the diligence team and compiling for seller and brining each to resolution
- Engaging 3rd parties to complete diligence, managing the contracting process and deliverables, providing and communicating requests to team and counterparties
- Engage with internal and external counsel and manage the contract drafting process, revisions, and other details
- Lead or support assigned project acquisition efforts, including negotiations and being buyer’s representative
- Lead or support assigned project sale efforts, including negotiations and being seller’s representative
- Drafting materials and presenting acquisition opportunities and purchase recommendations to management team
- Preparing detailed project budgets and spend projections to support purchase decisions
- Completing competition or other availability analysis to support purchase decisions
- When given criteria for acquisitions, complete market research and engage in outbound activities to purchase sites that are not currently for sale
- Accountability for adherence to company reporting, tooling, and other requirements
- Manage direct reports as they may be assigned, conduct performance reviews
- Other special projects as assigned Must-Haves:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in law, policy, economics, business administration, engineering, or related fields
- 3+ years of experience in wholesale electricity markets and a track record of success, preferably in mergers and acquisition roles
- 1+ years of management experience
- Project sale or purchase transaction experience
- Experience in multiple RTO/ISO markets
- Ability to prioritize, adapt, and respond effectively in a dynamic work environment.
- Strong attention to detail and deadlines
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time
- Experience leading sale or purchase transactions as seller’s/owner’s representative preferred
- Experience in developing, purchasing, or selling standalone battery storage projects preferred
- 6+ years of experience in mergers and acquisitions preferred
- Advanced degree preferred
